Then take a flick through a few photos of the places you may have hung out in almost fourty years ago.

If you travelled from Portsmouth you would have arrived at Ryde and walked along the famous old pier to get the bus or hitch-hike to the site.

If on the other hand you travelled from Lymington you would have landed at Yarmouth and walked around the pretty little town before heading on to the site at Afton.





 




 

The Village of Freshwater was the closest place to the site and it would have been here that you would buy food, fags and water before walking the mile and a half to Afton Down.

Today there is no evidence to show that more than 500,000 people once filled these beautiful green fields.

 








 


 

 


 







 

 







 

 

But at Dimbola Lodge Museum at Freshwater there is now a fantastic statue of Jimi Hendrix to compliment the permanent exhibition celebrating the greatest pop festival of all time.
